Tips for Wearing Blue and Lavender Eye Makeup

Ever since the fashion mishaps of the 1980s, blue eye makeup hues have been sworn off by beauty experts and industry insiders alike. Although we’ve all been conditioned to believe that blue eye makeup is an absolute no-no, a bluish tinge to the eyelids can result in a beautiful accent when done right. The good news is that blue eye makeup hues are making a comeback. They are becoming the trendiest shades to wear because they look gorgeous with all eye colors and all skin types. Use a completely neutral eyeshadow on your eyelids, and limit the blue to a line very close to the upper lashes and mascara. Dark-skinned women can get away with strongly colored, deep purple lips as long as they keep it sheer.

For a hot night out, apply deep lavender or plum colored eyeshadows to step up the smokiness of the eye color while using silver as a highlighter. For eyes that mesmerize, add smoky gray or deep plum eyeliner and black mascara. Finish off the look by very lightly brushing nude/neutral blush onto your cheekbones to keep your skin looking sheer and natural.

Other tips for wearing blue and lavender eye makeup:
Use two different eyeshadow hues, one light and one dark. Choose a soft color for the entire eye area and apply it up to the brow bone. Then use the darker color only up to your eye's crease. Be careful not to go too high with the dark shade since dark shades can make eyes recede. This is why you need to make sure not to place the darker color above the crease line.

If you have light colored hair do not use black eyeliner when using blue colored eye makeup. It has too harsh of an effect. Instead, use a deeper-hued shade of blue like indigo or navy.However, if you have a darker shade of hair, using a dark brown eyeliner with a lavender can bring out your eyes. Take for example, Rihanna's eye makeup on your right. The dark eyeliner compliments her darker shade of hair and brings out her eyes.
