Acne
There are some weird notions which say that chocolate and sex brings you
more acne while just the reverse is true. Both have pleasure hormone releasing capacities that increase the libido which in turn also enhances the skin! Just make sure that your chocolates are not laden with artificial sugar, are over 75% rich in pure cacao or better still have raw and pure chocolates to get all the reaping benefits. The same myth is applicable to oily and rich food. No wonder you don’t get great skin having deep fried, greasy food but that also does not directly relate to increasing your acne. Some food can really make acne worse but then it could just be food that you might be allergic to!
High carbohydrate food can flare up acne in some while there are definitely some foods that can get your skin to behave better. Chronic consumption of certain high carbs provides an increased insulin production. High carb stimulates the production of higher amount glucose into the cells. Insulin resistance may even drive your hormones to overwork and produce sebaceous glands to excrete more oil than usual. This also causes acne. When one has polycystic ovary syndrome one gets acne.
There are also those who would think that acne is associated with sexual activity which is just the opposite of what truth is. But when a person is undergoing through sexual changes through puberty, this can be the cause. With maturation and development these problems can occur, releasing toxins out onto the skin, letting acne to happen.
Many people think that cosmetics make acne worse. This is true for cosmetics which can cause acne and not for all. Many creams, oils, etc. increase greasiness in skin and aggravates acne. But it is also important to use non-oily sunscreen, a moisturizer or gel for acne prone skin and toner to help your skin feel naturally hydrated. Non-acnegenic products or non-comedogenic products are the kind that would really help you combat acne.
Acne is also caused by dirty skin or rather when you keep your skin unclean. But what may look dirty may actually be caused from blackheads from you skin. So, one should really remember to clean the skin properly. The skin dries out when you overclean it and this is not going to be a healthy option either. One should clean and tone the skin well, perhaps twice a day and use the toner more. But gentle cleansing is the best way as anything too harsh will take a toll on the skin. Overdried skin will be more inflamed and aggravated. It is thus important not to strip off the skin’s natural layer in any way.
While some acne may go away naturally it is not always true. Some can leave scars and marks for long. It can take even longer to treat it if you do not get proper treatments regarding your scar. Remember that long term acne or scars can really hamper your self esteem. Talking to your dermatologist about the right options to heal them would be a great thing to do!
Some people think that only teenagers get acne. Though for hormonal changes this could be true but this is not true all of the time. One can get acne anytime and even during late ages such as in one’s 20s or 30s one can get sudden bursts of acne at any time! Even during one’s 50s, while undergoing menopause one can get acne. Acne can also be caused through medications, menstrual cycle being irregular, birth control pills, fluctuation of hormones and what not! It can come in the form of allergy any time you could think of!
Picking or squeezing on your acne will not help it go at all. On the contrary it can leave some really ugly scars and though the picking and rubbing can be a tempting habit, it is not something one should do, should one choose to get clear skin soon. Acne scars can be hard to get rid of and it is better to leave them alone and with the appropriate medication than rubbing them.
Some people say that sunlight improves many skin conditions, including acne. Too strong or harsh sunlight can really damage the skin. So if you be out make sure to use sunscreen when between 10 am to 3pm. You can definitely do sunbathing when the sun is light which would be a good thing. A sunscreen that does not increase the greasiness in your skin is really going to be great. A gel based sunscreen is totally great for skin.
